Hen update

There now follows a break from normal tech and PR blogging for a very important hen update.

Sunday brought great excitement in the Wadds’ household. Two months after the hens arrived we had our first egg. It’s tiny but it’s a start.

The hens have established their natural order in the animal world that is the Wadds’ household somewhere above the cats but below Dan, our two-year old toddler. The snap shows their latest trick of knocking on the living room window to get attention.

I can’t recommend hen keeping enthusiastically enough as a way of learning about animal welfare and reconnecting with a basic food source. They are daft, friendly and never fail to make you smile.

After Jamie’s Fowl Dinner and Hugh’s Chicken Run campaigns, hens attract interest like no other animal. We’ve been inundated with offers of help in exchange for a bounty of eggs when we’re away from home.

I’m still working on the hen cam. But there’s a good one here.
