The dating scene is often described as something of a meat market. But it’s got nothing on an app from Hectare Agritech to help cattle breeders find the perfect match Yes, you herd it, a dating app for cows. The UK farming start-up launched the equivalent of Tinder for livestock which features the profiles of no less than 42,000 animals from farms across the UK.
Designed as a bit of ‘fun’ to raise the profile and grow subscribers of Hectare Agritech’s SellMyLivestock platform, users can view pictures of bulls or cows and swipe right to show interest. It was launched as part of a Valentine’s Day-focused media campaign which gained huge amounts of attention across the globe. The story ran in major outlets ranging from the BBC and The Guardian to Reuters and the New York Post, alongside widespread coverage on international news channels, including FOX24 News, France 24, CNN, Russia Today, Spanish broadcaster Antena 3 Noticias, and China’s TomoNews.
It’s such a fun, funny, good-natured and effective way to raise awareness of how Hectare Agritech is transforming the way farmers buy and sell produce. With humour at its core, it was inevitable that it would spark interest amongst the world’s media and get everybody talking. What’s more, in all its wonderful simplicity, it celebrates the rapid technological change that farming and agriculture is going through using technology and intelligent data Hats off to the creators of Tudder!
